Task one:
Before producing my product, I collected samples of music, to gain an understanding of how different music can create a variety of tones and atmosphere. This was useful to my research, as it has helped me to understand what jingles and tracks I could use in my main task.
In my second task I had to create a range of sound effects to signify different locations. This required using bedding tracks and ducking tracks to create the best sounds.
For task three, I had to deconstruct jingles by other radio presenters such as Chris Moyles. I looked at the content, sound effects and the target audience. I have found that contents changes depending on the time of day and audience and that sound effects can affect the tone of the jingle. This was a useful piece of research as it has helped me to understand how to piece together jingles that are appealing to my target audience and adults, that would be listening during the day.
For task four,I deconstructed a national radio and local radio broadcast. I looked at what vox-pops are used, as well as the number of news topics that were covered and target audience. This has helped me to understand that radio broadcast have different conventions depending on whether they are local and national.
This task involved experimenting with different sounds effects and recordings, to gain further understanding of what my production would need to include and what sound effects would be suitable. I have learnt that thorough scripting is not needed, as it needs to the voices sounding very wooden and unbelievables. This helped me to see that my scripts would only need to be basic bullet points, so that the voices would have a realistic sound, that real radio’s have.
In task six, I analyzed radio websites, for local and national. I examined the contents, layout, language features and target audience. After analysing them, I found that language changes depending on the target audience, as well as the content. For example, the content for a radio that aims towards a younger audience has a content that is mostly the latest music.
I examined radio programme schedules to see what contents was includes. also I looked at the language features and layout, to se how local radio and national radio websites differ.
